The Coconut Cove Version of a Full Day (It’s Shorter & Sweeter Than You Think)

Kick your shoes off. You won’t need them for a while.

Turtle Tail sits on the south side of Providenciales, curled around Juba Point Salina like it has nowhere better to be, because it doesn’t. The Venetian Road winds in past a shimmering salt lagoon where flamingos wade through copper-tinted water at dusk like they booked this trip months ago. Limestone hills roll quietly on either side. Private villas perch on bluffs with the kind of view that makes you forget what day of the week it is by noon on your first day.

This is Coconut Cove. Villa Paradiso Del Mar sits right in the middle of it.

If you have never spent a week on the south side of Provo, you are about to have some serious feelings about every beach vacation you took before this one.

The Water is Going to Ruin Every Other Beach For You

The south coast of Providenciales is not competing with Grace Bay. It does not need to. What it offers is something the north shore resort corridor cannot package and sell: space, stillness, and water so flat and clear it barely feels real.

Hidden Beach at Coconut Cove Turks and Caicos

Staying in Coconut Cove Turks and Caicos means, short walk from the villa. The name is not being modest.

  • No vendors, no crowds, no noise
  • Water shallow enough to see your feet twenty yards out
  • Dick Penn Cays visible just offshore at low tide, close enough to wade to
  • Bristol Cay and Bird Egg Cays sitting just beyond, untouched and completely deserted
  • Water shoes recommended, queen conch shells hide in the seabed and they have zero interest in your bare feet

Sapodilla Bay

Ten minutes west along the coast and worth every one of them.

  • Caicos Banks to the south block wind, waves, and every form of ocean drama
  • Water stays flat, warm, and crystal clear year-round
  • Sand finer here than anywhere on the north coast, worn silty-soft from traveling the full length of the Banks
  • Jet ski rentals directly from the beach
  • Kayak rentals through Las Brisas restaurant next door
  • Silly Creek Water Sports runs charters to the shipwreck, Split Rock, and Frenchmans Cay; spots most visitors never find

Chalk Sound National Park

Five minutes from the villa. The turquoise here is not subtle and it is not sorry about it.

  • Sheltered lagoon packed with dozens of tiny limestone islands
  • Motorised boats banned inside the park: kayak and paddleboard only
  • Endemic Turks and Caicos rock iguanas on several of the islands
  • Las Brisas runs guided kayak tours and a sunset pontoon cruise
  • Book the sunset tour, the light on that water cannot be accurately described to someone who wasn’t there

Adventures That Are Worth Leaving the Pool For

The pool at Villa PM is exceptional. We are aware. These are the things worth abandoning it for anyway.

The UTV Tour Through Juba Salina

  • Three-hour guided ride through the Turtle Tail region
  • Stops at Juba Salina Sound, where salt flats mirror the sky in colours that make photographers emotional
  • Hidden Beach swim break included
  • Bristol Hill panoramic views over the Caicos Banks
  • Final stop at Turk’s Head Brewery because cold local beer after a morning like that is not optional
  • Villa PM concierge arranges everything, you just show up in sunscreen

Sapodilla Hill Rock Carvings

  • 50-foot limestone bluff above Sapodilla Bay
  • Sailors from the 1700s and 1800s carved their names into the rock while waiting to be rescued after shipwrecks
  • Names, dates, Masonic symbols, rough ship sketches; some meticulous, some clearly carved on a terrible Tuesday
  • Views covering Chalk Sound, the anchored yachts, and South Dock from the top
  • Ten-minute climb, loose path, wear grip shoes

Snorkeling the Third Largest Barrier Reef on Earth

  • Turks and Caicos barrier reef runs the full length of Providenciales just offshore
  • Charter operators out of Turtle Cove Marina run daily snorkel trips
  • Regular sightings include sea turtles, small reef sharks, stingrays, and more fish species than most people have names for
  • Villa PM water excursion packages include pickup and drop-off
  • No logistics, no taxi-hunting, no standing on a dock trying to figure out which boat is yours

Eating Well is Non-Negotiable Here

The south side of Provo is not Grace Bay’s restaurant row. What it has instead is a handful of places that earn their reputation without the foot traffic, plus everything within easy reach for when the mood calls for something more.

Bob’s Bar at South Side Marina

The closest thing to a neighbourhood spot in an area that does not do neighbourhoods.

  • Overlooks South Side Marina near the Venetian Road
  • Burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, cold drinks
  • Live music from The Bar Band on Wednesday nights
  • Walk there from the villa at golden hour
  • Order whatever the person next to you is having

Las Brisas at Chalk Sound

The view alone would carry a weaker kitchen. This one does not need the help.

  • Mediterranean and Caribbean fusion perched directly over Chalk Sound
  • Coconut-crusted snapper tacos, the most talked-about dish on the south coast
  • Caicos lobster thermidor in season, finished in brandy cream sauce, served in the shell
  • Paella on request; 45 minutes, worth every one
  • Open daily 9am to 10pm, reservations recommended for dinner
  • Sit on the terrace, stay for sunset, watch the light do something to Chalk Sound that no photograph gets right

The Thursday Night Fish Fry at Bight Park

Twenty minutes from the villa and one of the most genuinely local nights out on the island.

  • Held every Thursday evening at Bight Park
  • Food stalls serving conch salad, jerk chicken, fresh seafood, local rum drinks
  • Steel drums, live music, and a crowd that includes actual Provo residents
  • Local artisan stalls with handmade jewellery and wood carvings worth buying
  • Go hungry, stay late, bring cash

Coco Bistro

Set inside the largest palm grove on Providenciales, this one feels like an event even on a Wednesday.

  • Outdoor dining under mature palms and soft string lights
  • Caribbean and international menu, consistently excellent
  • The kind of setting that makes an ordinary night feel like something worth remembering
  • Book early, it fills up fast and the waitlist is not flattering

A Little Shopping, a Lot of Good Taste

The south coast is not a shopping strip and the people who live here would like to keep it that way. Grace Bay is 20 minutes away and covers everything you need without requiring you to fight for a parking spot.

  • Regent Village and Salt Mills Plaza; boutique clothing, jewellery, local art, resort wear that travels well, both plazas walkable from each other
  • Atelys Adrian’s boutique at Caicos Plaza, local artist working directly from the colours of the islands, the kind of piece you hang on a wall at home
  • Turk’s Head Brewery; pick up bottles to take home, especially if the UTV tour hasn’t already delivered you there first

Before You Arrive, a Few Useful Things

None of this requires much planning when you are staying at Villa PM. But here is what to know anyway.

  • Rental car is essential; no public transit, no ride-share apps on Providenciales
  • Traffic moves on the left
  • Venetian Road is the only way into Turtle Tail and one of the best scenic drives on the island
  • Parking throughout the area is free
  • Peak season runs December through April, near-guaranteed sun, calm seas, busiest crowds
  • August through November brings lower prices, quieter beaches, and a less predictable sky
  • Villa PM concierge handles restaurant reservations, charter bookings, excursions, and airport transfers before you land

Your Backyard Just Got a Whole Lot Better

Villa Paradiso Del Mar is not a hotel with a concierge desk and a queue. It is a five-star private villa on Turtle Tail Drive where the staff knows your name before you land, the chef cooks what you actually want, and the infinity pool faces a view that makes every other pool feel like a parking lot.

The south side of Provo has been this good for a long time. Not everyone knows yet.

Now you do.
